Abstract:

"History shows that periodically the world goes though sharp and major transformations.
We are going through one now. Typically, these transformations involve a complex series of phenomena: social, cultrual, economic and strategic. Depending upon the level of analysis, these transformations occur every hundred years, such as the one at the end of the laissez-faire liberal era, which ended with the Vienna Stock Market Crash of 1873 or the sudden collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991 which ended the strategic political and economic competition between centrally planned economies on the one hand and democratic market-driven political systems and economies on the other....

...These transformations are, in turn, often parallel to and partly driven by behavioral and structural revolutions. Revolutions which can fundamentally alter value systems. By far the most far-reaching recent one occured in the last quarter of the last century and appeared as the "knowledge transformation" which had, ar its arteries, the communications revolution. The knowledge transformation changed history, economics and behavior for all time...."
