Trilateral Group specializes in communications strategy & integrating international cooperation and development projects. It often works closely in conjunction with international organizations and governments, including NATO, the European Union, the World Bank, Georgia, Kuwait, Russia and the USA (USAID, US Department of Defense, US Department of Energy, US Navy).
Work has been carried out in a variety of developing regions, often in difficult environments, including: Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union, the Black Sea Region, the Gulf States and North Africa.
In Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union, Trilateral has worked extensively with the IAEA, the US Government, the International Science & Technology Center (ISTC - Moscow), the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Russian Research Center - Kurchatov Institute, which is responsible for Russian energy and nano-technology R&D.
In the Black Sea area, the IAS-Trilateral team has run cooperative initiatives with NATO, Organization for Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC – Istanbul), South East European Cooperative Initiative (SECI Center – Bucharest), the IAEA and the Government of Georgia.
In the Middle East, the MEC-Trilateral team runs a variety of programs and forums, often in conjunction with the regional business community and government – for example the Gulf Research Centre in Dubai, the Government of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
TRILATERAL GROUP INITIATIVES INCLUDE:
•Partners in Transition: Lessons for the Next Generation - In partnership with USAID, and the Marshall Fund, Trilateral organized “Partners in Transition: Lessons for the Next Generation” - the first major East European summit conference for leaders of nations moving to democracy and open market economies. This brought together decision-makers from 30 countries to review the transition and facilitate dialogue. Keynote speakers included: Polish PM Jerzy Buzek, and Hillary Clinton.
•International Scientific Cooperation in the Former Soviet Union: An ongoing international science cooperation partnership with the Russian Academy of Sciences, the ISTC and the US Government to develop cooperation between Russian and Western laboratories to commercialize Russian technology and redirect scientists formerly involved in WMD projects. Products developed include next generation biochip immuno-assay kits and pocket-size emergency escape hoods, and satellite telecom networks.
•International Nuclear & Radiological Safety: The International Approaches to Nuclear and Radiological Security Talks or IANRS was established by Trilateral Group in partnership with the US Government, the Kurchatov Institute and the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy to foster an international security community committed to locating and securing orphan nuclear and radiological materials. The IANRS program features 250 experts from 37 countries based around a series of conferences and ongoing working groups that produce actionable outcomes.
•Black Sea Regional Cooperation: Supported by the Organization for Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Republic of Georgia, NATO, and the Harvard Black Sea Security Program, this Trilateral Group initiative provides a high-level neutral forum for discussions on mutual efforts to prevent illicit trafficking of drugs, weapons and radiological materials which pose a common threat to society, public health and the economies of all the states in this critical strategic corridor.
